Offshore Tower Walkway

at a glance

In this one-of-a-kind exhibit, you’re the one behind the glass- and the fish are the visitors! Venture into the only Undersea Observatory  in the Caribbean. Stay dry while you walk down into the ocean to view the natural, unconfined marine life of Coki Bay and Drake’s Passage through viewing windows. You never know what might swim by—from wild sea turtles and eagle rays to massive schools of shimmering fish.

Life in the Open Water

Sitting directly in the ocean, the observatory offers an authentic, unfiltered view of wild marine behavior and active reef restoration:

Reef Restoration in Action

As you look through the windows, keep an eye out for our underwater coral trees. Prepared and maintained by Coral World Ocean and Reef Initiative (CWORI), these underwater nursery trees hold growing coral fragments until they are large enough to be outplanted onto local wild reefs to help restore damaged habitats.

Schooling Dynamics

Thousands of silver silversides move in synchronized units to confuse hunting predators like jacks and tarpon.

Pelagic Visisors

Open ocean currents occasionally bring larger species, like spotted eagle rays and sea turtles, cruising past the windows.

Vertical Habitats

The tower’s submerged exterior acts as an artificial reef, attracting colorful sponges, corals, and grazing fish.

Animals in this Exhibit

Your wild sightings from the observatory will likely include wild Tarpon, Jacks, Silversides, and other tropical fish, in addition to our coral trees. Lucky visitors may also catch a glimpse of wild sea turtles or octopus.

Fun Fact! Underwater observatories let you see coral reefs and marine life below the surface—without getting wet or needing to dive.

Respecting Our Ocean Neighbors

The observatory offers a zero-impact way to observe marine life in its natural habitat. It serves as a powerful reminder of the vast, wild ocean right outside our doors. Through hands-on education, immersive experiences, and our partnership with the Coral World Ocean and Reef Initiative (CWORI), we foster deep respect and appreciation for marine life.
